Anthropic offers the Claude platform through Google Cloud

Anthropic's 22 October release notes launch an Anthropic-managed Claude API reached from a Google Cloud project, with IAM for access and Marketplace for billing.

Anthropic's platform release notes for 22 October 2026 say Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) has launched. Anthropic operates the Claude API. A Google Cloud project is how you reach it. Google Cloud IAM controls access, and Google Cloud Marketplace handles billing. The same notes say fast mode is available for Claude Opus 5.5 on that offering.

Anthropic's product page says the offering is generally available and includes the Claude platform features, with new features and betas shipping the same day they go live on the native platform. It is available with US and Global endpoints. Usage draws down an existing Google Cloud commitment and appears on the Google Cloud invoice. Anthropic operates the service and is the data processor. The Google-managed offering remains the path when Google Cloud has to be the data processor, when a team needs stricter regional residency, or when it wants Google integrations such as Model Armor or Agent Engine. The product page says setup creates a new Anthropic organization, separate from an existing one, and that an existing discount is not applied retroactively. Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5 are available there. Fast mode on Opus 5.5 prioritizes speed, up to 2.5 times faster output-token generation, at $8 per million input tokens and $40 per million output tokens.

Who it's for: a team that already buys through Google Cloud and wants the Claude API, including new platform features, on that bill.

Fits: Best for Writing stays Claude. This is a way to buy and authenticate the API, not a new model and not a change to the chat ranking. The verdict is unchanged.
