New Gemini API projects store requests by default
Google's 26 October changelog says new paid Generate Content projects store requests unless you opt out.

The Gemini API changelog for 26 October 2026 says new projects using the Generate Content API on the paid tier now store requests by default. That covers generateContent, streamGenerateContent, and batchGenerateContent, with store=true, matching the Interactions API. Existing projects keep their current setting.
To opt out, set store=false on a request, or turn off Generate Content API logging in the Settings panel of the Logs and Datasets dashboard. The changelog points to the Logs and datasets page for the rest.
Who it's for: someone creating a new paid Gemini API project, or checking whether those requests are stored.
Fits: Best for Writing stays Claude, and Gemini stays third on that list for drafts next to Gmail and Docs. This is a storage default on the API, not a new writing model. The verdict is unchanged.
