Google Cloud's 21 October 2026 post says OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview to select enterprise customers in Model Garden. Google describes Astra as the model for demanding coding, computer use, professional tasks, and scientific research, Sol as near-Astra intelligence at lower cost for agentic coding, computer use, and professional work, and Luna as the fast model for everyday work at scale. Starting the same day, Google says customers can call the models through its APIs and connect local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows to the Gemini platform for inference.

Purchases go through Google Cloud Marketplace, on one Google Cloud invoice, and can draw down existing commitments. Google says prompts, context, and outputs stay inside the customer's data perimeter and are not used to train foundation models. Zero Data Retention and Confidential Compute are described as coming soon. OpenAI's post the same day (opens in a new tab) says frontier models and Codex agentic workflows are coming to Model Garden, that general availability is planned in the coming weeks, and that Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner. OpenAI also says the models will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. Google's post says availability in Gemini for business and Google Antigravity is coming soon.

Who it's for: an enterprise that already buys through Google Cloud and wants GPT-6 models and Codex on that bill.

Fits: Best for Vibe Coding stays Cursor. Codex stays the cloud coding agent at rank 3. Another place to call the same models leaves the edit loop where it was. The verdict is unchanged.
