Canva's research index dates Brush to 30 October 2026, and the newsroom post is the announcement. Brush is a vision-language model for design. Canva says it sees a design, understands how the design is put together, and makes the change you ask for, from one line of copy to every slide in a deck. Behind the scenes it uses an agentic loop that writes and runs code, then inspects the page. What it produces stays an editable Canva design.

Canva says that at launch Brush is up to 69% faster on general design editing tasks, and 46% lower cost per edit task, than its previous design agent. In Canva's internal tests it matched or beat that previous setup on most editing tasks, with stronger results when restyling a design or adapting it to another format. Brush powers supported design edits in Canva AI for Canva Pro subscribers, and Canva says wider availability is coming. To use it, open a design or attach one in Canva AI and select Brush. Canva's examples are restyling an image, changing a multi-page design in one prompt, and remixing a design for another format. Brand Kit support, references to attachments, and better handling of image-heavy layouts are not in this version.

Who it's for: a Canva Pro subscriber editing an existing design in Canva AI.

Fits: Best for Images stays Midjourney for a still. Ideogram is the rank for words that have to be spelled correctly. Brush edits a Canva design. It does not replace those generators. The image guide and the Midjourney alternatives are unchanged. The verdict is unchanged.
