GitHub's changelog for 28 October 2026 says Projects in the GitHub Copilot app are in public preview. You start a project, describe the goal, and add context such as repositories, design mocks, Slack threads, or notes. Copilot runs as many agents as the work needs and brings back results, including pull requests, for review. Project automations cover repeatable tasks. A single-repository task can still start as a session from that repository.
The same note says computer use is in public preview on macOS and Windows. Copilot can read app content, click controls, enter or edit text, and move across desktop apps, including apps without an API, a command line, or MCP. It asks before it controls an app. An organization can disable the feature. You turn it on under Settings, then Computer Use. On macOS you also grant Accessibility and Screen Recording.
The note says Copilot can use Slack and Figma context beside the code, and can generate and edit images in chat. Image generation has its own changelog the same day.
Who it's for: someone in the Copilot app whose task spans more than one repository, or who wants Copilot to operate a desktop app with an approval in front of each control.
Fits: Best for Vibe Coding. GitHub Copilot stays fourth. Projects and computer use are preview surfaces on the Copilot app. They do not change the edit loop that keeps Cursor first. The verdict is unchanged.
