GitHub Copilot is available in JetBrains Air

Air's agent picker can run Copilot on an existing subscription. Cloud tasks bill that Copilot plan, not JetBrains AI credits.

GitHub's changelog for 3 November 2026 says you can delegate coding tasks, guide execution, and review results with GitHub Copilot in JetBrains Air. The integration uses the Agent Client Protocol. It supports tasks in a JetBrains IDE or in the cloud. GitHub says to use it alongside the GitHub Copilot plugin.

In Air's agent picker, select GitHub Copilot and use an existing Copilot subscription. GitHub says you can track several agent sessions, use project context and IDE tools, and review changes next to the code. For a local task, install Air in the JetBrains IDE, select GitHub Copilot, and connect the Copilot account. A cloud task needs a JetBrains account in an Air Teams-enabled business organization, a Copilot subscription, and Copilot turned on by the Air administrator. From the browser, open Air, connect GitHub under Settings > VCS Providers, create a task, choose the repository and remote branch, select GitHub Copilot, and send the prompt. From the IDE, use the Air plugin and select Cloud in the environment selector. GitHub says a cloud task runs in a Docker container on a fresh virtual machine, traffic goes through a proxy, and no state carries over between tasks. The task can build, test, and install packages without changing the local environment. Those cloud tasks use the Copilot plan rather than JetBrains AI credits.

Connecting Copilot to Air does not request Copilot permissions. Air may check the subscription or credits only when the cloud environment starts. If that check fails, the task fails and the session shows an error. You cannot choose whether one task uses a personal Copilot plan or an organization plan. Air's governance and analytics do not include Copilot usage. An Air administrator can disable Copilot with a governance policy, and cannot set a Copilot spending limit inside Air.

Who it's for: someone who already pays for Copilot and works in JetBrains Air.

Fits: Best for Vibe Coding. GitHub Copilot stays fourth. Cursor stays first for an edit you can reject in the project. Air is another place to run the Copilot seat. It is not that in-editor loop. The coding guide and Copilot alternatives are unchanged. The verdict is unchanged.
