Google's Gemini API release notes for 4 November 2026 add voice remixing for Gemini 3.8 text-to-speech. The note says you modify an existing prebuilt or designed voice with natural-language instructions, and the result is a new, independent stored voice. The call is POST /v1beta/voices with gemini-3.8-flash-tts, or the same remix in Google AI Studio. That returns a voice_... id. You then synthesize speech with Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS or Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS.
The note points the steps to Google's voice remixing guide. This page does not print a price.
Who it's for: a developer who already uses Gemini 3.8 voices and wants a stored variant without recording a new speaker.
Fits: Best for Writing stays Claude. Gemini stays third, for a draft next to Google files. Voice remixing is a speech API, not that writing rank. The Gemini start guide and the Gemini alternatives are unchanged. The verdict is unchanged.
