OpenAI's 5 November 2026 post introduces GPT-6 Cyber, a model for finding and validating vulnerabilities while staying inside the scope a researcher sets. On ExploitGym, which tests whether a model can exploit a specified vulnerability, OpenAI reports 48.5%, up from 32.1% for GPT-5.6 Cyber. In a separate check of staying in bounds, OpenAI says GPT-6 Cyber avoided out-of-scope services in 99.93% of tests without its deployment prompt, and in 100% with that prompt. OpenAI classifies the model as Critical in cybersecurity under its Preparedness Framework, up from High for GPT-5.6 Cyber.

The post says GPT-6 Cyber is initially available through the API and Codex to a select group of approved Daybreak Red customers, with access expanding to all Daybreak Red customers soon. OpenAI also says GPT-5.6 Cyber is available to all Daybreak Red customers. Daybreak Blue is the tier for verified defenders validating vulnerabilities and fixes. Daybreak Red is the tier for deeper authorized security testing. The post says mainline models such as GPT-6 Astra already cover code review, vulnerability triage, and patch development.

Who it's for: an approved Daybreak Red customer doing authorized security research in the API or Codex.

Fits: Best for Vibe Coding stays Cursor. GPT-6 Cyber is a restricted security model, not the general coding seat. Best for Writing stays Claude. The coding guide and the writing guide are unchanged. The verdict is unchanged.
