Grammarly vs Notion AI

Grammarly and Notion AI are the two names that show up when the words already exist and someone has not decided whether the job is the sentences or the page they live on. They are not the same tool. On Best for Writing the editorial order is Claude, then ChatGPT, then Gemini, then Grammarly, then Notion AI. This page is the editor against the page that is already in Notion. Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini stay on the list for a voice, a generalist rewrite, and a file next to Gmail and Docs.
The verdict: open Grammarly (opens in a new tab) when the words already exist and the job is tone, clarity, and grammar. Open Notion AI (opens in a new tab) when the document is already in Notion and you want a summary, a rewrite, or a messy page cleaned up in place. Grammarly is marked as having a free plan on this site. Notion AI is not. Notion's Free plan includes a trial of Notion AI, and Which AI is free to use does not treat a trial as a free plan. This page does not copy that rate card, and it does not quote a dollar amount.
The full five-tool walk is Best AI writing tool. The page that starts from Grammarly is Grammarly alternatives. The page that starts from Notion AI is Notion AI alternatives. The head-to-head of the first writing pick and the editor is Claude vs Grammarly. The three-way of the chat models, which does not include either name on this page, is ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini.
Grammarly, when the draft exists
Grammarly is fourth. The tagline is an editor for clarity, tone, and grammar. Use it to catch tone, clarity, and grammar on text you already wrote. Generating the piece from scratch is not why it earns a spot.
Stay when the words exist and the last pass is the job. Leave when the page is blank, and leave when the job is to clean a messy page in place. An editor is not a notebook cleaner. Rank 4 is a different product from the page you already keep in Notion.
Notion AI, when the page is already the system of record
Notion AI is fifth. The tagline is writing help inside a Notion doc. It is worth it when the document is already in Notion and you want a summary, a rewrite, or a messy page cleaned up in place. It is a poor standalone writing tool.
Stay when the page is already the system of record. Use Notion AI (opens in a new tab) to summarize that page, rewrite a block, or clean a messy one without exporting it. Leave when the sentences exist and you want tone, clarity, and grammar checked. If you export the page and then ask Notion AI to be your grammar checker, you have left the reason for the rank.
What this page is not
Claude is first. It is still the one to open for a long draft that has to sound like a person. Claude Haiku 5.5, launched 7 October 2026, is the cheap high-volume model in the same family, not the reason this rank exists. The note is Anthropic Claude Haiku 5.5 announcement. Claude is weaker when the job is searching the web and citing this afternoon's news. If the page is blank and the voice matters, you have left this pair. The page is Claude alternatives.
ChatGPT is second. It is still the generalist for drafts and rewrites. As of the 7 October 2026 rollout, ChatGPT can answer with GPT-6 Intelligent UI: text plus charts, buttons, and small tools in the reply. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol. Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. The default voice is still even, and a careful draft still wants an edit. The note is GPT-6 brings Intelligent UI to ChatGPT. A rewrite you will edit is not a grammar pass and not an in-place Notion cleanup.
Gemini is third. It is convenient when the draft lives next to Gmail and Docs. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can also use Gemini 4 Argon here, the 13 October 2026 frontier model for hard coding, science, and agent work. For ordinary prose the voice is still flatter than Claude. The note is Gemini 4 Argon is generally available. A Google file is a different container from a Notion page, and Argon is not a grammar product.
Which sentence you are in
"The sentences exist and I want tone, clarity, and grammar" is Grammarly. "The page is already in Notion and I want it summarized, rewritten, or cleaned up in place" is Notion AI. "The draft has to sound like a person" is Claude, first on Best for Writing. "A generalist rewrite I will edit" is ChatGPT. "The file is already in Gmail or Docs" is Gemini.
If you cannot say whether the words exist, or where the page lives, you do not have a comparison yet. The profiles are Grammarly and Notion AI. The order is the list. Check current pricing before you buy a plan. The rank will not tell you the invoice.
